About SmuleVault

SmuleVault is a free, browser-based tool built for Smule singers and listeners who want to hold on to performances they actually care about. Whether it's a duet you recorded with a friend on the other side of the world, a solo you spent hours getting right, or a collaboration that came together better than you expected, SmuleVault lets you download it as an MP4 video or M4A audio file in a matter of seconds. No app to install, no account to create, no hoops to jump through. It runs entirely in your browser and works on Android, iPhone, tablet, Mac, and Windows.

Why we built it

Smule is home to an enormous number of performances recorded by real people every day. But for all its features, the app has always had one quiet frustration: there is no simple, built-in way to save your own recordings to your device. Files can disappear when a subscription lapses, when storage gets cleared, or when an account goes inactive. People lose performances they put real time and genuine emotion into, and that felt like a problem worth fixing.

We built SmuleVault to fill that gap. The goal from the start was to keep it fast, keep it clean, and get out of the way. No ads blocking the download button, no watermark stamped on your file, no forced sign-up before you can do anything useful. You paste a link, you get your file. That is the whole idea.

How it works

1. Paste any public Smule performance link into the input box on the home page.
2. Our backend fetches the publicly available metadata for that performance, including the title, artist, thumbnail, and media details.
3. We extract the direct links to the original media files hosted on Smule's own CDN and return them to you alongside the track info.
4. You pick MP4 (video) or M4A (audio) and hit Download. The file saves straight to your device at its original quality, nothing re-encoded, nothing modified.

How we handle your data

We keep things minimal on the data side. When you submit a Smule link, our system processes it to generate your download. We do log some basic technical information like your browser type and device category, but only to help us catch broken integrations and improve performance over time. It is never tied to your identity and never used for anything else.

Any download-related data is automatically cleared from our servers within 12 hours. We do not build a history of your downloads, we do not store the URLs you submit beyond that window, and once the file is on your device, our involvement ends there.

What we do not do

• We do not host or permanently store any content that belongs to Smule or its users.
• We do not keep records of the links you submit beyond the 12-hour processing window.
• We do not require an account, email address, or any personal information to use the tool.
• We do not add watermarks, re-encode your files, or touch the original media in any way.

A note on intended use

SmuleVault is designed for downloading performances you own or have permission to save, your own recordings, duets you participated in, or content a creator has made publicly available and is happy for others to keep. Redistributing someone else's performance without their consent is a separate matter and one that sits outside what this tool is meant for. Please be respectful of the people behind the recordings.
